GRATINATED CAULIFLOWER WITH CHEESE AND BECHAMEL
Vegetable. That great relegated of many. The cauliflower gratin with cheese and bechamel and finally baked, is an excellent (although not unique) way to add this vegetable to our diet. The bechamel gratin and cheese, will not be a 100% healthy recipe but at least, it will be 80% since, the vegetable will not lose its properties because we put these ingredients on top of it. What it will do is increase its amount of fat a little, but we will also gain a lot in flavor. In addition, the flavor of this vegetable combines excellently with the bechamel and cheese. Next, the ingredients of the cauliflower gratin
INGREDIENTS FOR A CAULIFLOWER AU GRATIN WITH CHEESE AND BECHAMEL FOR 4 PEOPLE
- 1 large cauliflower
- 700ml of milk
- 60g of flour
- 60g of butter. Or oil
- from 100 to 200g (to taste) of cheese to gratinate.
- Salt and pepper
HOW TO MAKE THE RECIPE OF THE GRATINATED CAULIFLOWER WITH CHEESE AND BECHAMEL
1.- Cook the cauliflower. We remove the green leaves and wash under a stream of water, to remove possible impurities that could have. Then, cut it into 3 or 4 pieces (large) and cover with water in a casserole dish. Pour a good pinch of salt and let cook for 15 minutes, until we can stick a knife in it and let it go in and out without difficulty. You can leave it a little "al dente" if you like it.
2.- While it is cooking, we can prepare the bechamel. Put the oil or butter in another casserole dish and heat over a low heat. Then add the flour and let it cook for 3 minutes, to eliminate the raw flavor. Then add the warm milk, little by little and stir. That is, take a batch and stir until it has been integrated. With 4 or 5 courses that you do, it will be enough. It will be a rather liquid sauce. Season and let cook 10 minutes, while stirring from time to time
3.- Done the two previous steps, cut the cauliflower into smaller pieces. About 3 fingers in size. Place the pieces in a tray that will hold the heat of the oven well.
4.- On top of the cauliflower put the bechamel. Then the cheese and baked with it !. We put them on the grill for about 5 minutes. Until you get a tan color on top
